Registering A Large Class 3 Mobility Scooter With The DVLA
If you want to use your large Class 3 mobility scooter (the X13 and X14) on the road you must register it with the DVLA. Registration is easy, free and and you do not need to display a number plate. You do not need a driving license and do not need to provide evidence of disability. If you only want to use on the pavement in 4mph mode then you do not need to register it.
You only need to send the following to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BE
- Completed application form V55/MV (See example below) available from https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-first-vehicle-tax-and-registration-of-a-mobility-vehicle-v55mv
- Copy of the invoice that you receive with your scooter showing that the vehicle is new with model and frame number and declaration of newness.
- Evidence of speed and weight which will be a screenshot from the website product page.
After sending to DVLA you should receive your V5C registration certificate within 4 weeks.
